Belly Dance

Belly Dance is a dance that comes from Middle Eastern Culture. Moreover an art form, belly dance started becoming popular in the United States in the 1960s. Originally known as the "Middle Eastern" dance, belly dance is comprised of several styles.

One type of belly dance is known as cabaret. In cabaret-style, Belly dance is performed using glitter as opposed to ethnic material. Nightclub belly dance is described as performing in a "show-business" venue like restaurants, clubs, and other organizational functions. Nightclub belly dance incorporates different tools like veils, swords and even dancing with a snake. Tribal Fusion belly dance is performed in a more folkloric style, and combines dance movement, music, and costumes from many cultures and historical realms.

Belly dance is performed at fast, medium or slow ranges, and can include floor work, standing undulations and sword balancing. Lending freedom of individual creativity, belly dance is a magical artform that is not only beautiful to watch, but extends freedom to the dancer as well.
