Chiropractic Schools

Chiropractic Schools Chiropractic medicine is one of the most popular and desired degrees available today in the natural health care field. Chiropractors are also known as doctors of chiropractic (DC) and chiropractic physicians, these educated people diagnose and treat clients who have muscular, nervous system, skeletal system, and spine problems. An associate's, bachelor's, masters and even a doctorate's degree can be obtained in the chiropractic field of medicine.

Curriculum includes basic science, radiology, chiropractic methods and principles, clinical sciences, and many other related courses. Chiropractic studies teach a more holistic approach to care and therapy and aim to treat the entire body of a person rather than just the ailment of a single part. Chiropractic treatment is used for several different types of pain management like neck and back pain, joint pain, and headaches, and use a variety of techniques and equipment. The techniques and equipment used in the chiropractic field consist of exercises, electrical stimulation, hydrotherapy, and trigger point and traction therapy, as well as many others.

Exams for chiropractic licensure and certification are administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE). State tests may supplement the National Board tests, depending on the requirements of the state where you attend school. All state boards acknowledge academic instruction in chiropractic programs that are accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education .

The Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) is the only accrediting agency that is accepted by the U.S. Secretary of Education for accreditation of chiropractic education schools and programs. The Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) provides students with the opportunity to enhance their profession and stay involved in the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) as well as other chiropractic organizations.

There are specific steps one needs to take to maintain possession of a chiropractic license, including completion of a specific amount of continuing education per year which most states demand. Continuing education, including those of specific programs, is offered by accredited chiropractic programs, institutions, and chiropractic associations. Special programs are sometimes offered in areas of study like sports injuries, orthopedics, nutrition, neurology, diagnostic imaging, and other areas within the chiropractic field.
