Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
What is carpal tunnel syndrome? Carpal tunnel syndrome is comprised of varying symptoms which may include tingling, numbness, weakness or pain in finger, hand and sometimes the forearm and elbow. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when pressure is exerted onthe median nerve (which runs through the carpal tunnel) inside the wrist.
Triggered by repetitive finger or hand motions, forced or strenuous finger movements, carpal tunnel syndrome can even cause pain that radiates up to the shoulder. Carpal tunnel syndrome can reduce strength and grip in ones fingers and hands. Common routines such as hair brushing or using a fork can be disrupted by carpal tunnel syndrome.
Sometimes very painful, carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated with physical therapy, ultrasound therapy, hydrotherapy and other alternative treatments such as acupuncture, yoga, chiropractic, and vitamins - such as B6.
