What is EAR CANDLING? Ear candling is an alternative therapy dating back to 2500 B.C. Handmade from beeswax and unbleached cotton cloths, ear candles are specially made candles that range in size from nine to tweleve incles long. (Each burns for about 10 minutes.) These candles are utilized in ear candling through a process called "convection." By application of ear candling, softer waxes and toxins are drawn out of the ear, oxidized and turned into vapors during the technique.
Basically, while one is having an ear candling session, an individual will lie on his or her side. The ear candle is then inserted into a protective plate. Once this is done, the ear candling process can begin. The candle is then lit. As it slowly begins to burn, the small tapered end of the candle is carefully submerged into the ear canal. There is no pain involved in ear candling; although, a person may experience popping and crackling noises -- which is normal. Once the candle has extinguished, an ear candling therapist will snip open the remaining portion of the ear candle. Most people are astonished and shocked at what the ear candle has collected from their ears.
For a couple of days after the ear candling procedure, one may feel some warmth or itching in the ears. This is a common occurrence, and can be relieved by dropping a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide in the ears and wiping out excess with a cotton swab.
Ear candling can help relieve conditions such as headaches, ear infections, TMJ, excessive wax, ear ringing, plugged ears, hearing challenges, inner ear pressure, migraines, chronic sinusitis, imbalance and ear aches.
