What is MACROBIOTICS? Macrobiotics is a modern system of holistic nutritional care and exercises derived from an ancient Chinese science of food energetics. Principally, Macrobiotics is based on a practical system of healthy meals, revitalizing exercise, self-massage and relaxing meditation. An alternative way of living, Macrobiotics entails food and its effects on physical, spiritual and emotional health.

A natural way of cooking, Macrobiotics is a form of "natural healing" through food preparation and eating. Utilizing Macrobiotics, one can achieve healthy radiance and mental vitality; enjoy emotional calm and physical rejuvenation; improve stamina; and maintain peace, joy and happiness.

Some ideal traits of Macrobiotics are reduction and elimination of white sugar, fresh fruit, juices, artificial sweetners, red meats, poultry, eggs, dairy, caffeiene, processed foods, white flour products, chemical addititves and tobacco from daily meals. Macrobiotics encourages being thankful for everything one has, creating simple aerobic exercises, joining a healing group, deep breathing exercises. A Macrobiotic diet may include a variety of international foods. Soup, whole grains, land and sea vegetables, beans, soyfoods, seafood and fish, seeds and nuts, fruits, natural sweeteners and seasonings, natural beverages.

Macrobiotics addresses five different areas of an individual: 1) thinking, 2) breathwork, 3) movement, 4) diet and finally, 5) spiritual awareness. By incorporating Macrobiotics in one's lifestyle, persons can overall achieve and maintain mental, physical and spritual well-being.
