STRESS is what we experience when our physical and emotional sides become engaged in strenuous conditions. The continual "lows and highs" in our lives contribute to stress. Stress can negatively inhibit us and create imbalance in our physical and emotional wellness. Feelings of distrust, rejection, anger and depression, lifestyle changes can lead to headaches, indigestion, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. All of which are related to stress. Although we can never eliminate stress from our lives, we can mange it. Learning how to control our stress levels is of utmost importance through stress management.
By identifying stress factors, we make ourselves aware of its effect on our lives. Slow, deep breathing techniques such as meditation through Yoga can greatly reduce your heart rate and respiration, thus bringing normalcy. Medications, helpful in short-term use for stress management are not the answer. Cardiovascular exercise 3-4 times weekly, like Tai Chi and Aikido help to build stamina and reduce stress. Another stress management idea is to start a massage regimen. Massage decreases stress and tension in the body, therefore allowing stress management to work for you. In today's society, stress management is ideal as this ever-changing world continues to place more demands upon us. Stress management can be achieved through harmonious balance if we put our minds and willpower to effectively control life's haphazard effects.
