Water Purification

Water Purification Water purification professionals prepare preliminary and functional designs for new water treatment facilities, install and test new water treatment equipment and participate in the sterilization of new water mains and reservoirs. These professionals allow us to have fresh, uncontaminated drinking water.

What is Water Purification

Water Purification is the practice of inspecting and purifying water for drinking and other uses. By using various chemical processes, filtration, and other methods, water is purified. There are six steps to purifying water. The first step is called coagulation where lime is added to the water, which causes particles to stick together. Once this is done the water is shaken so that larger clumps form; called flocs. After that the water stands for 24 hours in order for the clumps to settle to the bottom. In the final step the water is filtered, disinfected with chlorine, and aerated in order to remove contaminants. Water purification is done not only for drinking water, but also water that is used in medical, dental, or pharmacological settings.

There are other water purification methods like heat, chemical treatments such as chlorine and iodine, distillation, reverse osmosis, and filtration. Each method of purification requires a different process, but can produce the same results. There are many benefits to having purified water. Decreased contaminants, microorganisms and sterilization, in purified water are benefits that allow individuals to stay healthy. Purified water has many uses including drinking, bathing, and even therapies such as flotation tanks use purified water. Clean, fresh water is not only better for you, it also provides the body with the nutrients it needs.
