According to the Catholic Encyclopedia (http://www.newadvent.org/) and Gnosis experts (http://www.gnosis.org/) GNOSTICISM is a belief system whereby salvation of the soul is placed in the possession of a "quasi-intuitive knowledge" (knowing by having intuitive wisdom) of the universal mysteries. Gnosticism is also comprised of magic formulae with regard to that knowledge. Moreover, Gnosticism, is based on one's heart's conceptions and spiritual experiences of the Gnosis. Based on myth as opposed to theology, Gnosticism utilizes transcendence, and psychological elements to interpret life as a whole.
