Electrotherapy
What is ELECTROTHERAPY? Also known as EMS or Electric Muscle Stimulation, Electrotherapy is a physical body treatment that utilizes special electrodes that stiumlate muscles to strengthen and maintain them. Electrotherapy is useful in assisting in recovery and rehabilitation of stressed or injured muscles and joints.
A non-invasive therapy, electrotherapy has been medically approved for use on patients that have suffered stroke or injury to help maintain muscle tone while recouperating; and further decreases inflammation due to illness or injury. Additionally, electrotherapy is a superb treatment for fibromyalgia, diabetic neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, Sciatica, scoliosis, and many other musculoskeletal problems and disorders.
What can one expect in an electrotherapy session? Soft rubber pads (which are connected to a electric-pulse device) are placed on targeted muscles where rhythmic contractions and relaxations are performed up to 1,000 times for up to 45 minutes. As an added bonus, electrotherapy is a passive exercise that also helps to lose inches by toning sagging and out of shape muscles!
