Can You Overcome Binge Eating?
by Martin Applebaum

The most common form of eating disorder is binge eating. However, there are solutions to overcome binge eating. If you feel that you cannot do this alone, then please consult a physician. The important thing is that you or the person with this condition realizes that there is help and that they can lead a normal life.

Now, we can provide some tips on how to overcome binge eating. Keep in mind, that this is difficult to do on ones own, but it can be done. The first thing you need to do is to feel good about yourself. Most people with eating disorders suffer from some type of self esteem issues. Once your self esteem has been improved you can begin to resolve your eating disorder.

One of the next steps to overcome binge eating is to remove all the foods that you binge on from the home. This means you cannot have any secret stashes anywhere at home, the office or anywhere else. If you do not have the food, then it becomes harder to binge. When you do your grocery shopping, avoid these foods as well.

Another important step to overcome binge eating is to keep a record of your binges and your feelings at the time that lead to the specific binge. Record what you ate, how much you ate and how you felt after the binge as well. These recordings can help you spot the events or issues that trigger your binges.

Find a healthy activity that helps to relax you. Relaxing is very important, especially if you feel that you may be close to a binge. It helps to clear your mind and help you deal with the issue better. People find different things to help them relax. Maybe yours is a relaxing bubble bath or simply a walk around the block. Your relaxation method should not involve food at all.

To overcome binge eating, you should be able to talk to someone about the problem. It is good to have someone to confide in. If you have someone that you can vent to, it may help you deal with the issues that cause eating disorders. Another important component to dealing with this problem is that you should keep active. Keep your mind and body busy.
