Basics of Yoga School
by CarolAnn Bailey-Lloyd
You don't have to be an accomplished Yogi to attend a yoga school, but you must believe in leading a healthy, active lifestyle. Like other alternative education institutions, a yoga school offers various levels of training from beginner to advanced classes. In some cases, a yoga teacher may even offer corporate or company training to those organizations that wish to have healthy, happy, fit employees. The first step to finding an appropriate yoga school is to research which school might offer you the best training at an affordable cost. You can do this by observing a local yoga class and by speaking with students in the class about their individual experience with the program. In some instances, you can register online or through a local chapter to start taking beginner classes in yoga. For the most part, a yoga school is not nearly as pricey as some educational courses - so if you want to become healthy and learn how to instruct yoga yourself one day, it's well worth the time and effort. In fact, just about any yoga school offers pay-as-you-go instruction, so check with the yoga teacher to determine if this is available to you. Beginner courses in a yoga school range in time (based on individual needs) but are typically about four weeks. These introductory classes are geared toward concentration, poses, bends, and other fundamentals of yoga. Sometimes included in beginner yoga are breathing exercises like Vinyasa, which is helpful in refining the combination of breath with movement. Of course there are more comprehensive yoga classes that entail meditation, anatomy and physiology, Sanskrit and sacred texts, and more advanced yoga movements and exercises. If you (or someone you know) are interested in learning more about alternative health education like yoga, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, naturopathy, acupuncture, Oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore a Yoga School near you.
