My six-year-old daughter Emma is the personification of passion in a compact, package. She and I planted a "Sunflower Farm" two years ago in our front and back yard. Sixteen seeds, sixteen incredible flowers became alive in our yard.
We became fascinated in the study of these plants themselves. Sunflowers are filled with vitality unlike any thing else I have ever known. Big sister Katherine and I gleaned 2112 seeds from a single sunflower blossom.
This fact burrowed into my being, planting its possibility in my veins.
In one sunflower blossom, 2112 future sunflowers may come to be born and burst forth with yellow, overflowing gloriousness. Each plant is capable of birthing 2112 other 12 foot, giant flowers.
The hugeness of sunflowers appealed to me for Emma, since she is such a larger than life little girl.
What I did not expect was to fall in love with the plants themselves. I remember my deep concern as I uprooted some and moved them to the back yard so that there would be enough space for all of them to flourish.
My heart pounded at the thought of losing even one sunflower.
This was even before I knew that within each sunflower was the potential for so much more.
The first time I harvested a sunflower blossom who had completed her life cycle, I held one seed from that blossom in my hand. I stood frozen in the middle of my garage as I gently held a single seed between my thumb and my forefinger.
My spirit expanded, filling with awe. The purity of emotion was second only to childbirth. Such wonder, such a pulse, such a vibrance and so much possibility right between my fingers.
In that one little sunflower seed I was connected to all of the sunflowers in the past and an infinite number of sunflowers in the future.
Janos Arany said, "In dreams and in love, there are no impossibilities." This seed, connecting me from the beginning to the future pulsed with this message.
Imagine that - connected infinitely. In this connection, everything and anything is possible.
Imagine what an impact you would have upon the world if you were reproducing your ideas and creating a field of love for humanity as the sunflower reproduces. What if you shared one magical, magnificent idea you brought manifest to 2112 people and they then took that idea and added their own care, nurturing and love to the idea and brought forth 4,460,544 people who also shared that idea. And then those people added their own care, nurturing and love to that idea and shared it with 9,896,452,775,936 people?
It is simply in activating and creating from the original seed, continuing the cycle, allowing all that is here already to take root and grow.
By the way - this last figure is well over the current population of the planet. We eclipsed the current population of 6,380,194,860 the second time we multiplied.
All from one inkling which lead to one idea which lead to one application which brought into fruition a blossom.
All from one sunflower - and from you. Janos Arany was absolutely correct when he told us, "In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities."
