7 Ways to Break through the Wall in Your Life
by Antonia Martinez Ph.D

We all run into challenges from time to time in our personal and professional life. But "the wall" in your life is not like other challenges. It's bigger and badder. The wall affects body, mind and spirit, and prevents you from connecting with the people, inner power, and experiences you want most in life--until you overcome it. Here are seven holistic strategies to help you break through the wall in your life.

1. Don't do anything to get what you want. Only do what matters. The steps you've already taken, are currently taking, or will take to get over the wall mean nothing if they just run you around in circles.

To take a quantum leap, aim for forward motion in a straight line:

* Take the action that has the most direct, immediate and positive impact on your goal.

* Don't waste energy trying to do everything you can. Just do what needs to be done.

* Avoid detours. Confront obstacles that are directly in your path.

2. Don't chase success. Invite it. Sometimes the wall you run into is really just a door that you refuse to open. Success doesn't visit while you're not home, and it doesn't come where it's not welcome. So invite it.

* Create the internal and external conditions that make the success you want possible and sustainable.

* Nurture the skills, traits or relationships that attract what you want.

* Make room in your life (and on your calendar) for your success to materialize.

3. You don't have to believe in yourself. You just have to commit. Fear, reluctance, and unconfidence slow you down. But what stops you from breaking through the wall of self-sabotage or underachievement is a lack of momentum. If you want to see progress:

* Commit to putting one foot in front of the other. You will move forward whether you believe you can or not.

* Keep your momentum steady and focused to break out of negative cycles, patterns, and habits.

* If you really intend to meet your destiny you absolutely must pick yourself up whenever you fall down.

4. You don't deserve anything you get. You get what you accept. The biggest wall in your life might be there because you let it. And whether you "deserved" it or deserved something better is a moot point the minute you choose to put up with it. You can't move beyond your obstacles if you choose to accept them. To experience a breakthrough:

* Be ready, able and fearless about not settling for the "booby prize".

* Only accept what you really want.

* Take effective, proactive steps to attract your fulfillment to you.

5. Simplify your life around you want most. Sometimes the wall in your life is just the mess you leave behind after spreading yourself all over. Your focus strays to navigating the mess rather than reaching your destiny. To pull yourself together (and over the wall):

* Clean that mess up!

* Clear your calendar of activities that are in direct opposition to your goal so you can make dates with success.

* Eliminate the physical, mental and emotional clutter that is unrelated to the life you are living and want to build for yourself.

6. Stop trying to fix everything. Get to the core and the rest will work itself out. Suffering different problems all at once, or one thing after another is symptomatic of a hidden internal barrier. The longer you distract yourself with "fixing" the surface problems, the more unbearable the source of the problem tends to become. To break through the wall you can't see:

* Stop, breathe and take a BIG step back.

* Look for the common influence that's creating the domino effect of problems in your life.

* Stabilize the root problem, and your related circumstances will begin to fall in line.

7. Focus on building yourself up, and the walls will naturally come down. What you perceive as the presence of a wall is usually the absence of "the right stuff" to move forward. Develop the internal and external resources you need to outgrow your limitations.

* Zero in on the situation you want to get into rather than the one you want to get out of.

* Pinpoint what you have to change about yourself to be in natural cooperation with what you want to experience.

* Create a developmental, philosophical and action path that will take you were you want to go.

"Sometimes a sou'ls gotta do what a soul's gotta do. (Empower yourself) to do just that...Press onward, go deeper, and make the changes that really matter, without making excuses for yourself. There is no excuse for not living the life you are meant because that's what you came here for."
