The Silver Locket

I was given silver and red velvet gift box, and when I opened it, it contained an oval-shaped, embossed silver locket. I was leaning out over water from the side of a boat and dropped the gift box into the water. The chain of the locket was caught in the closed gift box, but it slipped free of the box as the box submerged in the water and was lost from view. I was left holding the locket and was very happy to still have hold of the locket. What does this mean?
