The Vision & Philosophy of CNWSMT

At the Center For Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy (CNWSMT) we believe that a dynamic therapist is one who combines knowledge and excellent bodywork with a deep honoring of the transformational energy of loving touch. Through a comprehensive program of study that carefully balances the art and science of therapeutic massage the program strives to enrich the lives of its students. By empowering students with knowledge and understanding of the human body, they will be able to to speak intelligently and professionally to their clients and other health care practitioners about the importance of massage therapy in preventive and palliative care.

An important aspect of being a compassionate bodyworker is self-awareness. Our program provides students with the opportunity to grow personally and examinie their own relationship to self and others in a supportive enviroment. They are encouraged to bring mindfullnes and awareness to each moment in order to experience their lives more completely. This balancing of body, mind and spirit naturally allows health and wellness to arise.

Our highly trained faculty is deeply committed to creating a safe, nurturing and intimate learning community that honors the diversity and unique gifts that each student possesses. We believe that human beings excel when encouraged to be fully who they are. The process of becoming a massage therapist is a life changing experience that allows individuals to bring their hearts more openly into their work. Our staff maintains high standards of integrity, character, and ethics, while cultivating these qualities in each of our students.

Educational Goals and Objectives

The school's primary goal is to prepare each student to meet and exceed the requirements of the New York State licensing exam for Massage Therapy. Our school's instructional enviroment fosters a solid foundation in the practice of massage therapy with numerous science classes that prepare students to fully comprehend body systems. They will have the opportunity explore many different hands-on techniques of holistic bodywork and engage in outside activities that help communities better understand how massage therapy can improve health and emotional well-being. Our staff endeavours to unfold each student's special talents and abilities into a deeper unerstanding of the art of massage therapy and other natural healing modalities by adhering to the following objectives:

  • To provide each student with a quality learning enviroment
  • To employ faculty and staff who are dedicated health practitioners or massage therapists and who possess exemplary educational and ethical standards
  • To provide an educational experience consisting of the art, science, practice and ethics of massage therapy
  • To provide every student with a wide range of academic and career enhancement opportunities
  • To encourage personal growth and self-awareness among faculty and students

The CNWSMT believes that alternative healing techniques including therapeutic massage will continue to play a vital role in preventive medicine and that massage therapists will work hand-in-hand with the traditional medical establishment in the 21st century to create a new model of wellness. Through our comprehensive program, graduates will go into the professional world confident of their skill and calling as massage therapists.
