President Bush is singing a new tune out on the campaign trail. He's telling Americans that results matter. For once, I agree. So lets compare the results of having Bush in office for the past 3 and a half years, verses what it was like when Clinton was in office.
Under Clinton, the country's record of economic success was unprecedented and shared by all. Budgets were balanced, family income was up 17%, 23 million jobs were created, nearly 8 million Americans moved out of poverty, there was record homeownership, and we had huge budget surpluses.
In contrast, Bush's record atrocious. While corporate profits are at an all-time high, average wages haven't even kept pace with inflation. Millions of jobs were lost, there has been a 7% increase in poverty, household debt is at a record high, college tuition has skyrocketed, energy costs have soared, over 3 million people lost their health insurance and family insurance premiums increased by $2630. The $397 billion surplus projected for 2004 by the Congressional Budget Office been squandered away by $2 trillion worth of tax cuts for the wealthy, leaving a record-breaking $422 billion deficit instead.
In my opinion, you can give me a guy with an overactive libido who cares about all Americans over a guy like Bush, who is at best utterly incompetent, and at worst a greedy, self-centered control freak who doesn't give a hoot about anybody besides himself and his rich cronies, any day.
