Behind the Mask

Behind the mask of a smiling face,
Dwells a poor heart filled with sorrow.
Wondering what the future holds.
Will there be a brighter tomorrow?
I dream about those happy days,
When our love was shiny new.
Each day you said you loved me.
I told you, I loved you too.
AH! those passionate kisses!
Those caresses you gave to me!
It thrills me so to think of them.
My heart doesn't want to be free.
You always promised me faithfully,
That we'd never be apart.
But, then you left me so suddenly
And broke my faithful heart.
I'll hide me sorrows every day.
I'll always try to SMILE.
Maybe, I can convince my heart,
We can again have a life worthwhile.
